Learning that you are having a new member of the family is exciting and special news. For soon-to-be parents, there are many things to do in preparation for the coming of your precious child. There’s the scheduling of your prenatal checkups and buying of baby clothes and other baby items.
However, do not forget that you also need to babyproof your brand new condo family home at Panglao Oasis in Taguig. Doing so may be an arduous task, but it will be worth it as it will keep your baby from getting into an accident. To assist you in babyproofing your home, follow this checklist.

If you’re using a hand-me-down or a brand new crib, make sure that it is safe. The paint should be intact and non-toxic, and the hardware should be firmly secured. It is best to avoid cribs with headboards and footboards with decorative cuts. Make sure that your baby won’t be able to put their head between the openings in their crib.
Always opt for a tight-fitting mattress and lightweight blankets. Stay away from thick blankets, comforters, pillows, and soft toys, which may cause sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Once your baby can crawl and bump against heavy furniture that topples over quickly, they will surely get in an accident. Make sure to put weight on this furniture or set them against the wall.
Check the corners of your furniture, such as cabinets, tables, and other furniture that have sharp edges. You can add a bumper strip made out of silicone or foam on the edges so that your kid won’t get hurt if they hit the edges.
If the rooms in your condo are well-lit, your toddler won't trip while walking. At the same time, it will also keep you from tripping while holding your baby. Since units in Panglao Oasis have enough windows, you can take advantage of the morning sun that comes through them to lessen your light consumption in the day.

Kids love to put things in their mouths, so make sure that their toys don’t have small pieces that they may swallow and cause them to choke. Make-up, toiletries, medicine, and cleaning supplies should be out of their reach too.
It is also essential to always disinfect any items your kid always holds or puts in their mouths, such as toys or even the tablets you often allow them to watch in.

Out of curiosity, children may poke a plug using their fingers or a metal object which can cause them a traumatic electric shock. It is best to cover any plugs in your home to avoid this accident. Any extension cords, wires, and appliances should be kept away from your child.

If your condo kitchen is open, store away sharp objects, glasswares, and heavy kitchen equipment in a childproof cabinet or in a cabinet that has locks. Don’t let your kids go near the stove or the oven so that they won’t hurt themselves if they accidentally hold hot handles of pots and pans. If you have a four-burner stove, it is best to use your back burners.

Install a non-slip mat under your bathroom rugs. If you store any cleaning items in your bathroom, put them where your child won’t have access to them. Install spout covers to prevent them from feeling hurt if they accidentally bump their head on them. Avoid any unwanted accidents from happening behind your back by keeping the door to your bathroom locked at all times.
The doors in your condo should be locked at all times. Doors to the balcony, bathroom, and your rooms should be locked. It is best to have doorknobs installed instead of levers, which are easier to open by kids. Ensure that the main door in your condo is locked so that your kid won’t be wandering around the condo building.
Don’t place furniture near the window to prevent your kids from climbing on them, giving them access to your window.
Clean your home daily. Pay attention to your floor since this is the spot where your kid often stays, especially when they are playing or exploring your condo home. Clean or vacuum your floors at all times to remove any small items you kids may find on the floor.
Following these tips will help ensure your kids will be safe at all times in your condo home.
